Just got the 1050 and surprised how good it goes in waist high waves. A bit harder in early take offs but easier on late ones than the 1250. Turns Well Fast and good lift and glide. Might become my new favourite. I started with a 1600 and always felt I needed bigger not smaller foils but now loving the smaller sizes. Also got a 800 I am yet to try. 85 kg 85 mast 300 tail 60 fuse. 66 Sup foil Armstrong

Had the pleasure of riding the 1050 behind a buddies boat today. He had it with the 300 stab and 70 cm fuse. It was really smooth, gave enough lift, responsive to fast turns. Another friend who is into kiting and also a bigger guy, likes it for the top end. I think I'm gonna need to try this one prone foiling. Really like the 1250 but this might be a really good all arounder. For my spot, probably won't be able to wing with it but it might fit the sweet spot for other disciplines

If I had to choose only one Armstrong wing it would be the 1050 for prone.....I have all the other wings except 850 which the lightweight guys are raving about now.

Used it for the first time today wingding. Amazing lift for a small wing, awesome glide (Not as good as 1250), turns on a dime with a much softer feel to it compared to 1250. Tiny waves today but has awesome potential to carve on bigger swells. Stoked.

15 to 25 knots with a 5m. Carried me through the lulls well, which surprised me. 232 tail with -2 shim.

Surf looked a bit smaller today so I thought I would try the 1250 again after 4 days on the 1050. Ended up thinking I would have been better on the 1050 still.

Only thing the 1250 is better at is glide and generating speed. If you like pumping then that is the wing to use. I will use it for light wind days and tiny waves or when I need to link up between flat sections. Oh and downwind.

Hi hilly so how would you compare the 1250 to the 1550 then, maybe a smaller version of the 1550 perhaps then ?:-)

Different beast the 1250 is thinner and flatter. Great pump not as turny if that is a word. When you get used to it the 1250 turns really well but it is an acquired taste. Sharp and fast. I will get rid of my 1550.

Yes I think I see what you mean (also you are using a lot of speed & power with wingding foiling etc. as I am doing sup & prone only) but I am slowly progressing from the 1600 to now the 1550 so later I think that I will try/progress to the 1250 thanks:-)

A smaller version of the 1550 would be the CF1200, same handling characteristics but everything scaled down. The 1250 is a different foil shape/ section and feel to ride.

I really like the 1200 it feels a lot like the 1050 and with both of them I tend to crash a lot less than the 1250. Advertise locally for a 1200 you will probably get a cheaper used one with everyone going hs foils. I have probably sold my 1200 but will possibly get another one if I see one but not if its nearly as much as a new hs 850 which are tempting me

Ok tomooh so you prefer the 1200 to the 1250 - so the 1250 is longer & thinner and the 1200 is shorter and fatter (similar area and a bit more weight) but you tend to "crash a lot less" so what exactly / how do you crash / why?:-0

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want the same feel as the 1550 ( easy turning , great rail to rail surfing, and solid easy lift ) then the 1200 will feel exactly the same but with less lift and more turn ,so it can be used in bigger waves.
The 1250 is less lifty than the 1200 but handles speed with less front foot pressure. The 1250 does not turn rail to rail as easily as the 1200 because it is wider and flatter, so if you are wanting to rip harder turns the 1200 is better. ( 1050 is best ) The 1250 shines if you want maximum glide and pump efficiency with longer arc turns at high speed with even foot pressure.
The 1250 is more difficult to ride in some respects ( mainly turns) as it is more HA than the 1200 but it pumps easier.
Im going to teach my son to foil and I will use the 1550 and 1200 , not the 1250 or 1050.
If you like glide and pump go the 1250, If you like easy turning and easy riding go the 1200.

Seems that the 1200 will ride through and recover in situations where the 1250 will breach and throw me off. The 1200 will get near the surface have a twitch and carry on. Just feels easier to ride and more forgiving but the 1050 has replaced it for me at the moment.

Tomooh I was just looking on line at the Armstrong wings and it appears that the 1250 is the odd one out compared to most of the other foils, the 1200 & 1050 appear to be a similar shape and style that seems to work for you:-)

Has anyone chopped the tips off their 1050? I see some have been for with the 1250 but haven't seen anyone do it to the 1050? My 1050 and 1550 v1 tips are beaten up from reef hits so I was thinking I might as well grind a bit off instead of trying to fill and repair.

The 1050 is very different to the 1250 . 800mm down to 670 same as 850 if you want to chop that you really need to be on your pump game . I wouldn't recommend it but if you are game would love to see results . I'd recommend trying the new V200 tail on the 1050 before you drop the axe .

Don't know what you would improve by chopping 1050, probs best turning wing around and it sure wouldn't make it pump any better
