Just seeing who out there has a custom mini hipster longboard. I've always loved the way they surfed and currently getting a 8'5 x 28 drawn up.

Yep, 8'8x30" 120l. Weighs 7.5kg. Super fun board. You're in for a treat.

Had you ridden the bigger ones? I had a 9'2 x 29 but stupidly sold it and now miss it.

I got an custom 8'4 x 29 Hipster at around 100L - wanted a bit more length to get into fatter waves and deal with windy crap beach break conditions. It's really just a longer regular Hipster rather than a short Hipster longboard. I'm 64kg so all the 8'4ish production boards had way too much volume. Two years in I absolutely love it.

No but I have owned a few other 9 foot long board shapes ... Laird, JL, Fanatic but I always feel that I want something smaller and carvier that still catches plenty of waves and with a nose that doesn't plow water and stall too much. I loved my Hipster twin 8'3 so I thought a Hipster Longboard custom around 8'8 would be the go and I wasn't disappointed. Best of both worlds! Surfs the same as the shortboard off the tail and then step forward and have some fun on the nose. Heaps of glide and catches waves better than the regular 8'3 as you would expect. I surf a lot of fat point breaks so this was the main reason I went for this shape. Your custom at 8'5 should be super fun. I know what you mean when you say you miss one of your old boards. That being said I go through a lot of boards and have sold quite a few that I sold just for the sake of trying something new. I rarely keep a board for longer than a year and enjoy the challenge of getting to know a new board, messing around with fin setups etc. It's all part of the fun. If I could keep them all I would but I'd need to be rich which I'm not and I'd have nowhere to store them all anyway. At some point down the track I'll sell this one and go for something wider and shorter. One board I loved surfing was my 8'4 Hypernut. I reckon a Hipster Hypernut would be a blast! Maybe 8'5 by 31", nice parallel rails pulled in to a hipster twin tail for small beachies. Hipsternut! Sorry, I'm getting off the point now.

Hi Mick, your custom 8'8" sounds exactly what I am after. I have the 8'3" hipster and the 9'2" x 28" hipster lb and have so much fun. Something in between sounds like the sweet spot.
