Since I asked SurfinJ to share, I decided to share my last effort. A couple of the lefts reminded me of his waves.
Sorry, the vid is twice as long as it should be, but there were some nice waves and it is a beautiful spot.
Funny thing though; I totally had the wobbles... Maybe it was because it had been a week+ since the previous surf, and that was on my 12' Pt Break. I just could not get the rhythm going...
At the end, you can see the brackish river water flowing over the rails of the board - it has stepped rails.

Please, don't apologize for a video over 30 seconds.... the people that don't enjoy them can move on, but the rest of us like to watch SUP videos....and there are not a lot to watch.

Thanks STC. It was a fun session and few good size waves - a bit of extra adrenaline.
(I had a great session on the Pt Break around a week earlier. Any normal board would have struggled to catch much, but the Pt Break picked it up and glided along, no problem. It is a fun board!)

Thanks! It is a fun board. There were times I wished I was on the Placid. I had the wobbles and missed a couple of waves, but the Blurr V2 is very light and maneuverable.
That was a great session. It was nice to see you ripping that board around. Just the right small board size to be flickable. As beautiful as that spot is, I imagine it's remoteness adds the the adrenaline factor when you are alone out there and there is some size.
It's a great spot. The seaweed sharks keep you on your toes - but at least they aren't real sharks like STC's black-tips.

Yes, that's one of the main reasons why I love this remote location (and why I go out at the crack of dawn). I am usually by myself there. Spoilt for sure.
(Sometimes I wish there was one other person, just in case something goes wrong, but only if they don't compete for my waves, of course.)

my time will come ,i will just watch your videos ..and imagine its me switch foot ..
go pro can be deceiving ,but i can see some size in those waves ...

Thanks Tardy! Yes, there were a few that were at least head height. GoPro makes them all look small...
I had my butt kicked yesterday...
Went to the same place but the waves were at least another foot higher, maybe 2 feet higher, but much more powerful. The conditions were good windwise, but it was tough getting out. Wave after wave...
The face of the wave was lumpy - it was hard to control. I find it hard to set a rail when it feels like the board just wants to hop around. Got smashed a few times taking off too late...
Caught a great left a little too far (got greedy), and 20 minutes later I was still battling waves to get back out. That's one problem with the shorter board - I can't balance through the breaking wave like I can on the Placid. Most of the time I was prone paddling, but I can't duckdive on the SUP, and the bigger waves grabbed me, slapped me around, and pushed me back. You know the story.
I was getting tired, no one else was out, so went home with my tail between my legs... (I wore my helmet this time.)
Ah SCE, that sounds familiar to a few sessions I had last winter!
Getting humbled! It was those few sessions that led me to a larger board then the small one I was on early in the season - found the sweet spot.

A bigger board would have been perfect! I would have loved to have the Insane, but the Placid would have been great too.

I just did a TBTL at my local
Plenty of excuses: big, sets in between the real sets, low tide, a few shark sightings lately/no one else out, just finished a night on call , sore knee ( my rear leg, requiring i trial a waist leash set up now) , ummmmm.....

Personally, I would not dream of taking the point break out there in those conditions. It is just too big - IMO. For starters, I would have needed a steel-reinforced leggie. I took it out at my home break (Big Left, Flinders) in waves that are small for that break (and I thought it would be smaller), but still at least shoulder height and it was scary. I broke the leggie (luckily I caught up with it before the waves took it too far). When a wave crashes over it there is a lot of backward force. I think it is just too big.
At least with a reef break you can paddle around the trouble to get back out. Where I was yesterday was an unforgiving beach break.
My Insane (9'11) is still very big, and it has an industrial-strength leggie, but I think it is at the limit of length for big waves - again, IMO. It is also slim 29.5" vs 32". But it lets you get on to the wave earlier and it is easier to paddle out - but at 29.5" wide it is still a bit tippy.
I would have been much better on my Placid, which is only 8'7 long, but 30.5" wide, because I am "proficient" getting over white water on that board. The Blurr V2 is just a bit small for me to get through the bigger breaking waves.

Well, sometimes you just have to know when to call it... Yesterday the waves themselves weren't tooo big, it was just murder getting back out. But facing bigger waves when you're exhausted, with no one else out, is just asking for trouble... TBTL and off I went...
